Ranges in color from a cotton candy lavender to lilac to purple with patterns of swirls, feathers, and needles. May also contain patches or stars of black, orange or green. Rich in texture, some charoite can appear to gleam or shimmer.
Once called the Inca Rose because Incas were thought to have mined it centuries ago. May be transparent, translucent or opaque. Colored by manganese in shades of pink from pale salmon to bright watermelon. May be textured with lacy bands of white, and pieces cut from stalactites often have cocentric rings or eyes.
